Kristine received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of California at Davis; interned at the University of California, Berkeley; and received an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. She is a Registered Dietitian, licensed by the American Dietetic Association. Her principal focus as a Nutritionist has been on the health of at-risk women and children. She has worked professionally as a Public Health Nutritionist, Nutrition Program Administrator, Nutrition Writer, and a Consultant in Pediatrics. She is presently a Nutritionist at Harbor Wellbeing where she provides nutrition counseling to patients with cancer.Kristine believes that healing is more about nourishing life, and less about battling illness. We have extraordinary natural mechanisms for healing, which function best when supported by a healthy diet and lifestyle. Conducting our lives in ways that nurture these mechanisms is a key part in preventing disease and recovering from illness. Balance is achieved not by pushing against the body, but by following its lead. It has the wisdom to heal if given the physical and emotional environment it needs to thrive. Optimal nutrition is particularly important in coping with the difficulty of cancer treatments, and subsequently returning to wellness in the aftermath of the disease. The uncertain path through cancer treatment and diagnosis often leaves people feeling that there is little about their health they can control. But diet is one aspect they can. Each meal provides a new opportunity to choose foods that will count toward wellness. As a cancer survivor herself, Kristine hopes that her patients will benefit from the knowledge she has gained from her experience. It is her intention to give cancer patients the strategies, resources and support they need to thrive during treatment, and to find restored health afterward.
